In early November we went with Roger and Peg to Park City, Utah to experience some mountain life.  It was unseasonably warm, and good for hiking and sightseeing.  While there we also visited the US Winter Olympics Training Center, the Great Salt Lake and Temple Square in Salt Lake City.  On one hike, Paula Face-Timed with Ben to show him his first moose.

John visited Japan four times in 2016 to provide consulting services.  While there he stayed in the beautiful Minatomirai harbor area of Yokohama, traveled to Takasago several times and had a great evening with friends Etsunori, Mitsuru and Akiko.

We had spent a couple of weeks in York, England in May talking about the latest high temperature gas turbine technology.  In June, we returned to England for two more weeks for an organized tour of England’s role in the Industrial Revolution in the 18th-19th Centuries.  John found all of the machinery, bridges, ships, factories, etc. fascinating.  Paula was a good sport.  After the tour, we visited Paula’s relatives in Bristol.

Our travels in 2016 took us to both 0 degrees Latitude and 0 degrees Longitude, although not at the same time.  We actually crossed the Equator several times during our cruise of the Galapagos Islands, but the picture below was on dry land in the mountains of Ecuador.  Doing 0/0 at the same time would have been in the Gulf of Guinea in the tropical waters of the eastern Atlantic Ocean, which was not attractive.  The three month offset let us do it in two nice places.
