In May 2011 we visited Australia for a couple of weeks. We started in Townsville in tropical Queensland in the Northeast part of the country. Then we took a cruise from Cairns following the route of Captain Cook over the Great Barrrier Reef back to Magnetic Island and Townsville. On the way home we stopped for a couple days in Sydney and had dinner with Kerry.
And then we cruised the Great Barrier Reef, snorkeling several times each day.
And then back to urban Sydney which was also great.
In May we visited Japan again and were able to spend a weekend with our friends the Miyazakis. We circumnavigated Mount Fuji, stayed on the beach in Numazu and visited the Imperial Family summer residence and much more.
In April 2011 we visited Japan and had the opportunity to visit Kyoto with our friend Yui and her mother. The timing was perfect, because the cherry blossoms were at their peak along the “Philosophers’ Walk”. We had our first taste of Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Ice Cream.
In November we made an exploratory trip to Buenos Aires and San Nicolas.
In October we ventured to the high altitudes of the Peruvian Andes for a week of hiking and exploration.
In August we had a family gathering in Massachusetts, including the famous Irish Village.
In July we travelled to the Kessinger clan gathering in Napa Valley to celebrate the wedding of Sara and Garth.
Following that we followed the coast up to Portland and back down the center of the states past the volcanoes.
We visited Singapore twice in 2010, in January and June.
In May we ventured to the 100 island achipaelago of Langkawi, in the Andaman Sea off the border of Malaysia and Thailand.
We visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia three times in 2010, in January, March and May.
